My new sounds:
Happy Holidays to you all from Alrealon Musique! As this year comes to a close the 3 wisest men of Alrealon, Big Poppa Lippe Lippe, Chris Gilmore and Robert L. Pepper would like to thank you all for your continued support of the their lovely label by giving you a gift! As you snuggle up next to an open fire…roasting your nuts with visions of sugar plum faeries dancing through your heads and counting all of your blessings, we have one more thing that you can truly feel thankful for, our latest compilation, ‘Frequencies of Existence – 5 years of Alrealon Musique’! This compilation, celebrating our 5-year anniversary as a label, embodies no less than TWENTY-SIX tracks, that’s right, TWENTY-SIX new and exclusive tracks by our favorite artists available to you for FREE download on December 18th! You can get it HERE. We invite you to get all wrapped up in your favorite snuggie and truly feel the warmth of the holiday season by sinking yourself deep into these tracks by, Ahem…drum roll please…Anthony Donovan, ARU, Black Saturn, BOAR, Brand Stifter, Chester Hawkins, Cold Metal Future, Ebinger, FluiD, Hezment & Heliocentrism, JOHN 3:16, Philippe Petit, Laica, Leigh Wright, MaCu, Margitt Holtz, MRC Riddims, Omega Dub Experience, [ówt krì], PAS, , Tashkentiqué, Rasplyn, Speak Onion, DMC & Anton Mobin, The Use, The Whip Angels and Thorsten Marc Soltau. Phew!!! I need to catch my breath…this SERIOUSLY KICKASS compilation sure as hell beats getting a lump of coal in your stocking! What was that thing that good ‘ol Kris Kringle used to say? Oh yeah, “BELIEVE”.
Keeping with the spirit of giving, check out Anthony Donovan and Jaan Patterson’s Free Music Archive: Classwar Karaoke Survey 0024! Lucky enough to be included this round are Alrealon Musique artists Pas Musique, JOHN 3:16 and Rasplyn. It includes 99 participants, with 86 pieces of music and 17 films. This is a MASSIVE and fantastic collection of some of the very best experimental art around. All available to you for streaming and FREE download!!! Such a treasure! Also, Anthony’s latest release via Alrealon Musique, Murmurists “i cannot tell you where i am until i love you” has been getting some wonderful reviews! Lux Atenea Webzine called it, “a high level experimental jewel…transforming complexity and surprise in an instinctive musical dance that connects the music lover with vibrant ancient soul that finds meaning only in our own unconscious…” WOW. If you haven’t yet stepped into his mystifying world of puzzling enchantment, please do!
All good news on the Rasplyn front! My 2-track ‘Priestess of the Goddess’ release has been getting some lovely reviews. From Lux Atenea Webzine, “Gorgeous…Music lovers can enjoy a wonderfully seductive musical style and avant-garde experimental spirit where the taste for the delicacy and harmony in sonic detail lead us to dive into a magical world populated by richly neoclassical melodies and instrumental passages of sublime beauty. Proof of this musical art in composition is “Priestess of the Goddess”, where the spiritual and shamanic spell has been harmonized with absolute mastery of current neoclassical folk…A mix of an environmentally tribal Eastern philosophical perfume amid a melodic instrumental backdrop that inexorably charms you…”. Mark Barton in The Sunday Experience said this of it’s 2nd track with JOHN 3:16, “For ‘Yetzer Ra / Derech Hashem’ she teams up with fellow Alrealon-er JOHN 3:16 to craft something that has the air and feel of reaching forth to a given point, to some hitherto karma like plateau… this straying melancholic mistral is sorrowfully inscribed in a free spirited aura. Side winding long abandoned and lost and forgotten civilizations, its opining overtures are draped and couched in ice cold detachment and bleached in a tearful introspection whose head hangs in the shadow of lost godspeed and the grails glories with both protagonists complimenting each other perfectly.” If you haven’t embarked on this mystical adventure yet, give it a try! In September I performed a new track during the Rockatelle section of The International Beethoven Project, which was part of a festival curated by none other than Wilco’s Glenn Kotche and Fulcrum Point’s Joe Darnaby. The Chicago Tribune newspaper was there and had this to say of my performance,"Rasplyn’s chiming "Treasures Drowned," for iPad, clarinet and thunderstick, gave some of the afternoon’s most unusual, gleaming sonorities." Up next, Rasplyn will perform with Azar Swan and Delphic Oracle out on tour from NY on December 18th in Chicago!
Alrealon’s beloved Laica (Dave Fleet) has also been the recipient of quite a healthy stream of FANTASTIC reviews for his latest release ‘Environs’! Mark Barton in The Sunday Experience says, “Utilising cavernous textures and with the deft application of space Fleet crafts an aural palette that’s both serene and delicately trance like yet all the same etched in an undercutting disquiet, abstract electronica threaded from manipulated field recordings are applied in alternating cycles that free flow between natural sound habitats (what sounds like waterfalls and rain showers) and mechanoid dubtronics (wherein sounds come across like a slowed down misfiring ignition).” And get ready for this one… Lux Atenea said, “‘Environs’ has everything to become a reference work in the finest experimental music issued in this second decade of the XXIst century. ‘Environs’ to avant-garde musical minds is an album of essential acquisition.” Ummm…that statement is HUGE!!! Don’t YOU want to own some of the FINEST experimental music of this decade?!?!?!? Ummm…YEAH!!! Maybe all you want for Christmas is your two front teeth, but you better add ‘Environs’ to your list too!
We have an update for you on Brandstifter/PAS Musique’s ‘Lost & Found in Europe’ full colour booklet and ‘Tour 2013 Sounds’ CD, both of which are now available on the Alrealon site. Click HERE to check them out! Here is what Mark Barton had to say about it in The Sunday Experience “…a 16 track tour document culling material collected on their travels back in April and May earlier this year wherein they visited Belgium, Germany, Austria and Poland. ‘entitled lost and found in Europe’ the CD edition comes replete with full colour 20 page booklet, the label has sneaked out a preview cut in the shape of a collage recorded live in Torun, Poland – a mind bending exercise in strange frequency manipulation, both disorientating and alien not to say heavy and hypnotic, this slice of cosmic dub pulses like some subliminal intergalactic transmission crying out ‘buy me, buy me, buy me’ in binary form…” DO IT. BUY IT!!! To learn more about Brandstifter you can now check out his SNAZZY new artist’s page with Alrealon HERE. Oooh la la! What a lovely addition! Welcome to Alrealon Musique!!!
Philippe Petit’s 2-track turntablistic masterpiece, “Needles in Pain” is still rockin’ some great reviews! The latest review from Kulturterrorismus states, “Timeless art of music at the highest level defines this stunning jewel to some extent, which ultimately is very difficult to summarize in words, which is why an extensive audition is recommended!” We at Alrealon think it’s a pretty good idea to take their advice! Check out this jem for the holidays. It’s an awesome addition to any record collection!
JOHN 3:16 has had the pleasure of having Canadian artist, Jan Swinburne create a hypnotic video described as “Degenerated waveforms” for his equally hypnotic industrial/drone track ‘Obey God’. In Jan’s words, “The moving, abstracted, primal sound declarations of Obey God had captured my attention from the start and I was hoping that I would be able to use the glitched up imperfections that I am drawn to in my previous videos to accompany this sound.” You can check out the video and more of Jan’s work HERE. JOHN 3:16 is busy settling into his new home, writing tracks and booking shows for early 2014 in the US of A!
We would also like to give a shout out and thank you to Francesco Cosentino who has been playing the music of JOHN 3:16 and Rasplyn (not to mention that of a million other AWESOME bands) in his podcasts published by The Earl Times Radio. They are available for streaming and download HERE. Check them out!
There you have it, nothing but good news, amazing artists and GREAT music coming out of Alrealon to finish off 2013! We cannot WAIT to see what the bright future holds for us in 2014. We wish the best of holidays and a Happy New Year to you all!
